The Handover Ceremony for the Provision of Medical Devices to Hussain Teaching Hospital in Muthanna Governorate
 
  1. On 13 May 2025, Mr. Akira ENDO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Iraq, attended a handover ceremony at Muthanna Health Directorate in Samawah, where two anesthesia machines and two operation lights were officially delivered to the Hussain Teaching Hospital, which is one of the so-called “Marubeni Hospital”, in Muthanna Governorate.
 
  1. This support was made through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), in partnership with the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS). The provision of this medical equipment will enhance the capacity of the hospital’s surgical department, contributing to safer and more efficient operations for the people in Samawah and Muthanna Governorate.   
 
  1. Through the (GGP), Japan continues to stand with the people of Iraq by supporting locally-driven projects that address urgent needs at the grassroots level. Since 2003, the Government of Japan has funded over 100 projects across Iraq, covering sectors such as public infrastructure, healthcare, education, public welfare, and landmine/UXO clearance. (End)
