Ambassador Endo’s attendance to the opening of Dustapa basic and high school in Erbil

On 27 February 2025, Mr. Akira ENDO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Iraq, attended the opening ceremony of Dustapa basic and high school in Erbil, with the participation of Mr. Alan Saeed, Minister of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Mr. Safeen Dezayee, Head of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Reginal Government, and Mr. Falah Hasan, Head of the Department of NGOs of the Kurdistan Reginal Government.
 
  1. The school was built by Japanese NGO “IVY” with the fund provided by the Government of Japan. During his speech, Ambassador Endo expressed his sincere hope that the school would provide a better educational environment for the children who are responsible for creating a better future.
 
  1. IVY has been playing an essential role for the people of Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, through providing daily necessities to IDPs and refugees as well as building and rehabilitating 37 schools since 2014. Last year, IVY started to introduce the method of Japanese-style education to the teachers in this school, which has contributed to improving the quality of education in the Kurdistan Region.
 
  1. Ambassador Endo also expressed his gratitude to all the people who are engaged in this project for their kind support and cooperation, in particular, Sumitomo Cooperation, Toyota Iraq, and Sardar Group for their valuable donation of books to the school. (End)
