In order to meet numerous requests from Iraqi nationals who would like to visit Japan as tourists and to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Iraq, the Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Consular Office in Erbil will start issuing all categories of Japanese visa. All the applications except for the cases below should be submitted through the accredited travel agencies in Iraq (please refer to the attached document titled “The List of Accredited Travel Agencies”.) from 20th August, 2019
 
The Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Consular Office in Erbil will accept the following visa applications directly.
 
  1. Visa for those who travel to Japan for diplomatic and official purposes with an official letter issued by the authorities concerned in Iraq.
  2. Visa for those invited by the Government of Japan or the Independent administrative agencies of Japan (ex. JICA, Japan Foundation, JETRO).
  3. Visa for awardees of Japanese Government Scholarship.
  4. Visa for those who need imminent humanitarian assistance.
     
Please note that from 20th August, 2019, the Embassy of Japan in Jordan and the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai are no longer accepting the visa applications of Iraqi nationals unless they have proper resident visas of Jordan or UAE.
 
The Embassy of Japan in Iraq and the Consular Office in Erbil will charge “Visa Fee” once a visa is granted. In addition, the said agencies will charge “Application Fee” for all the visa applicants on top of the “Visa Fee”.
