On the 26th June 2019, Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto, Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, delivered the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette to Professor Mahmoud Al-Qaysi, Associate Dean of the College of Arts for Scientific Affairs, University of Baghdad, which was conferred upon him by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan
 
The Order was conferred as an expression of the sincerest appreciation for Professor Al-Qaysi’s outstanding contributions to promoting bilateral friendship, and to strengthening cultural and academic relations by introducing and promoting Japanese Studies and Japanese language education in Iraq.
 
Ambassador Hashimoto commented that “It is my pleasure that I can deliver the decoration awarded by the newly ascended His Majesty the Emperor of Japan to Professor Al-Qaysi in this special year 2019 which marks the 80^th anniversary of Japan-Iraq diplomatic relations”, and added that “I would like to express my congratulations to Professor Al-Qaysi, and I hope that he will extend continuous guidance in advocating stronger bilateral ties between our countries.”
