対イラク円借款「クルド地域電力セクター復興計画」完了及び研修センター開所式典

On 18 July 2018, Mr. Katsumi Moriyasu, Consul of Japan in Erbil, attended a ceremony to mark the completion of “Electricity Sector Reconstruction Project in Kurdistan Region” and opening of Training Center for Electricity Development under the presence and patronage of Kurdistan Regional Government’s Prime Minister, H.E. Nechirvan Barzani.
The project amounting to around $120 million was financed by Japanese concessional Yen loan to improve the levels of reliability and availability of the electricity network in the Kurdistan Region by developing substation and distribution systems.

During the ceremony, Mr. Moriyasu reaffirmed Japan’s determination to continue support to Iraq and the Kurdistan region as a close partner as long as they step forward towards security, peace and stability.

Japan has extended Yen Loans totaling to around $6.7 billion to Iraq since 2003 mainly to rehabilitate infrastructure as well as humanitarian and stabilization assistance totaling $460 million since 2012 to alleviate the suffering of IDPs, refugees, returnees and host communities.
