The Signing Ceremony of Grassroots Grant Contract for the Project for Provision of Medical Devices to Sinjar General Hospital in Nineveh Governorate

- On 8 October 2019, a signing ceremony for the Grant Contract was held the Government of Japan provided financial assistance up to US $90,000 for the Project for Provision of Medical Devices to Sinjar General Hospital in Nineveh Governorate. It was signed by the Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, H.E. Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto, and Mr. Ahmad M. Alheety, President of The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) which will implement this project.
- The project aims at improving the medical environment in Sinjar city and its surrounding areas after the liberation from ISIL by equipping Sinjar General Hospital in Nineveh Governorate with four Infant incubators, two infant Resuscitators and one Urine Analyzer device.
- This grant comes under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects by the Government of Japan. Grassroots projects aim to bring immediate and direct effects on improving the living condition of local communities. The Government of Japan has carried out over 100 projects of this kind since 2003 throughout Iraq, in various fields including healthcare, education, poverty, public welfare and anti-personnel mine/UXO clearance.
