- On 10 March 2019, Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto, in cooperating with the Foreign Relations Committee, gave a lecture at the Council of Representatives titled, “An overview of Japan’s Activities in Iraq during the last 15 Years”, as one of the series of lectures on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Iraq.
- The lecture covered the economic, cultural, academic, sports, and diplomatic relations between Japan and Iraq since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1939, especially in the last 15 years since 2003 as well as the factors that helped Japan rise after WWII.
- The lecture was attended by a number of Members of the Council of Representatives who were eager for more cooperation with Japan in the future and made suggestions for possible fields of cooperation in various governorates of Iraq.
