Announcement of official logo for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Iraq in 2019

- The year 2019 will mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Iraq. As part of the preparations for this year of friendship, a public competition was held to select the official anniversary logo.
- The winning design selected out of the 88 entries submitted was created by Mr Nooruldeen Ali Saeed, an Iraqi student who lives in Japan.
- The logo stands for the long-lasting 80 years of diplomatic relations beyond generations. It is like the combination of a cherry tree which represents the special place in the mind of Japanese people, and a palm tree which does the history and authenticity of Iraqi people.
- The members of the selection panel were Mr. Fumio Iwai, former Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, and Mr. Khalil Ismail Abdul Sahib Al Mousawi, Ambassador of Iraq to Japan.
- Mr Ali Saeed said “I am extremely honored that my design was chosen as the logo which represents the 80th anniversary of friendly relations between Japan and Iraq”, and continued “I hope more progress will be made in these relations in various fields to enrich mutual benefits between the two countries”.
- The logo will be used towards November 2019 in all communication regarding activities associated with the anniversary.
