ブラザー工業及び同社現地代理店による女性国内避難民へのミシン寄贈

On 28 March 2024, Brother Industry Ltd, the Japanese electronics company donated through Technostar, the local agent of Brother Industry 100 sewing machines to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support female IDPs in Anbar Governorate, particularly those women from al-Qaim, during the ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan in Iraq.
 
These beneficiaries have been receiving vocational training funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UNDP. This donation by Brother Industry will further help empower female IDPs and their families by providing them with an appropriate means to generate income and to elevate their quality of life.
 
During the donation ceremony, Mr. Futoshi MATSUMOTO, Ambassador of Japan to Iraq, stressed that the donation is truly in line with the concept of human security that Japan has been advocating to ensure the empowerment and protection of individuals to live in safety and dignity. He also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the development assistance provided by the government and the private sector’s contributions in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations and realizing sustainable development.
 
Ambassador MATSUMOTO expressed his profound gratitude to Brother Industry and Technostar for their invaluable contribution to society. It is the hope of the Government and people of Japan that these sewing machines will make a positive difference and significantly improve the livelihoods of the female IDPs and their families.
