The Signing Ceremony of the Grassroots Grant Contract for the Project
for the Al-Zubair Clinic Construction in Basra Governorate
1- On March 10 2011, The Government of Japan provided financial assistance of up to $100,457 for "Al Zubair Clinic Construction Project in Basra." A signing ceremony for its Grant Contract was held on the same day at the Embassy of Japan in Iraq. The Grant Contract was signed by the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq H.E. Mr. Susumu Hasegawa, and Chairman of Al-Rawabi Humanitarian Foundation Mr. Oday Abdul Fattah Mansoor Al Agman . H. E. Dr. Tariq Al Hashimi, Vice president of the republic of Iraq also attended the ceremony.
2- This project aims at building new clinic, and provides medical equipments to the clinic. The project is financed by the Japanese Government and to be implemented by the Al-Rawabi Humanitarian Foundation, an active Iraqi NGO in Humanitarian assistance based in Basra. Around 1,000 people are expected to go to the clinic monthly after the construction by greatly improving their medical environment.
3- This grant comes under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects by the Government of Japan. Grass –roots projects aim to bring an immediate and direct impact on the living conditions of the local community. The Government of Japan has carried out over 90 projects of this kind since 2003 throughout Iraq, in various fields including healthcare, education, poverty and public welfare.
